The Foundation
The Grants
Läpimurtosäätiö is a new Finnish sports support foundation whose purpose is to enable promising young Finnish athletes to make an international breakthrough. In addition to elite sports, the foundation supports actors whose goal is to create equal opportunities for Finnish children to participate in physical activity, and thereby to make a breakthrough in their own lives.
The foundation was founded in 2022 and the first grants were distributed in the summer of 2023. The foundation's initial capital is 3 million euros, and the aim is to increase it to 30 million with the help of donations. The foundation received its first donations in the spring of 2023.

Läpimurtosäätiö has two different grants: enabling breakthroughs for young top athletes with the Athlete Grant, and promoting equality in children's and youth's exercise with the Children and Youth Sports Grant.
The mission of the Athlete Grant is to provide promising young Finnish athletes with the conditions to break through to the absolute top of their sport. The grant can be received by an athlete in an internationally respected individual sport who belongs to the top of his sport in Finland, and has the potential and support networks to break into the international top of the sport in the next five years.

The aim of the Children and Youth Sports Grant is to create equal opportunities for Finnish children and young people to participate in sports regardless of their background. For example, a project or operator that enables children and young people to have equal opportunities for physical activity can receive a grant.
The Athlete Grant is always awarded to the athlete himself, while the recipient of the Children and Youth Sports Grant can be an actor or a project.
